a higher grade modern beginner/intermediate banjo kit. The components include a heavy 11” cast flat-top aluminium alloy rim with an integral tone ring & nice quality nickel-plated metalwork (24 brackets, armrest and a a choice of tailpieces). All the components are nicely nickel plated except for the rim which is polished. Comes with a Fibreskyn head but other heads are available on request. The truss rodded mahogany neck is quite slim with rosewood fingerboard and pearl dot position markers -the neck has 2 point fixing to the rim for extra stability. The scale length is 26 ½” with 22 frets. The neck already has modern banjo fretting, very nicely done. There is choice of tuners available (budget guitar, quality guitar, several types of planetary geared) and a geared 5th string peg. The rim requires assembly which entails drilling holes for the bracket shoes, neck fixings and co-ordinator rod. The neck requires final sanding/finishing and the installation of the neck fixing bolts. Overall a fairly easy kit to build as the difficult bits (heel angle/radius and fretting) are already done by us. This kit makes up into a banjo quite similar to the Saga RB40/42 (though with a prettier neck) - this a good banjo for beginners/intermediate in most styles and for general “folk” use. A resonator and flange (available separately as required) can be added for a more authentic “bluegrass” tone.
Many parts can be changed on request (i.e. head, armrest, tailpiece, tuners etc) to make a “custom” kit if required - please phone for details.
Please note that the illustration shows a typical "custom" kit - NOT the most basic, cheapest version
