Gold Tone MC 5-string kits from - £300.00

Gold Tone MC 5-string kits from

a higher grade modern beginner/intermediate banjo kit. The components include:-
- heavy 11” x ¾" maple rim
- "Gibson-style" flathead tone ring or a "White lady" tone ring
- nice quality chrome-plated metalwork (24 brackets, armrest and choice of tailpieces).

All the hardware is nicely chrome plated. Comes with a Remo top-sprayed head but other heads are available. The truss rodded maple neck is quite slim with a bound rosewood fingerboard and “diamonds” position markers -the neck has 2 point fixing to the rim for extra stability.

The scale length is 26 ¼” with 22 frets. The neck comes complete with a ready-cut set of modern banjo frets for easy installation - or plain straight fretwire if you prefer to do a "vintage-style" installation.

The kit comes with a choice of tuners and a geared 5th string peg. The rim requires assembly which entails drilling holes for the bracket shoes and co-ordinator rods and cutting a rebate for the tone ring. The neck requires final sanding/finishing and the installation of the neck fixing bolts.

Overall a fairly easy kit to build as the difficult bit (heel angle/radius) is already done.

This kit makes up into a banjo quite similar to the Gold Tone MC150 types - this is a good banjo for beginners/intermediate in most styles and for general “folk” use.

A resonator (available separately if required) can be added for a more authentic “bluegrass” tone.

Many parts can be substituted (i.e. head, armrest, tailpiece, tuners, tone ring etc) to make a “custom” kit if required - please phone for details.

Some pre-assmbly work (fitting the tone ring etc) can be done prior to despatch if required.
