Rally "Frailer" open back - £130.00

Rally

a new, improved 2010 model of this entry-level banjo made in China. It has an 11” laminated ½” mahogany rim with sturdy chrome & nickel plated metalwork - 18 brackets and a No-Knot tailpiece. It has a non-adjustable armrest for comfort whilst playing. It is fitted with a Remo Fibreskyn head. The truss rodded mahogany neck is quite slim with a black bound rosewood fingerboard and plain dot position markers. The scale length is 27 ½” with 22 frets. It has modern banjo fretting, nicely done and hand dressed for an excellent playing surface. The action is set-up low but is adjustable as required. Fitted with guitar style tuners and a geared 5th string peg. The neck is finished in semi-gloss lacquer which matches the body very well - the finish is good. This new model is fitted with an extra neck-to-rim fixing and a locking nut on the co-ordinator rod to improve the tuning stability and comes with capo spikes already installed at the 7th & 9th frets + a spare set of strings.

Overall, this banjo is nicely made and good value for money. It has a mellow, clear tone suitable for any open chord tuning. A neat little banjo which would suit a beginner very well. If you've discovered Patrick Costello - this is the decent quality basic frailing banjo you need .........

Also available with a beginner's complete outfit - see the "open back outfits" list ..
