a nice modern beginner‘s banjo from Saga. It has an 11” moulded ABS rim with heavy nickel-plated metalwork - 24 brackets and a Waverley/Clamshell tailpiece. The plating is excellent. Fitted with a top sprayed Remo head. The truss rodded mahogany neck is quite slim with a cream plastic bound rosewood fingerboard and pearl dot position markers. Two-point neck fixing for extra stability. The scale length is 26 ½” with 22 frets. Modern banjo fretting, nicely done and hand-dressed for a smooth playing surface. The action is set-up low but is adjustable as required. Fitted with guitar style geared tuners and a geared 5th string peg. Standard cream plastic bound convex “Gibson” style resonator with 2-piece flange and 4-point fixings. The neck is finished in clear gloss lacquer which matches the resonator well - the finish is excellent. It has a pleasant mellow tone suitable for any open chord tuning. A well-proven design dating back to the 1940’s. An amazingly economical banjo which works very well indeed.
