a new, high-grade modern entry-level/intermediate banjo from Ozark - specially designed for the bluegrass beginner or improver. It has an 11” x ¾” thick laminated mahogany rim with a rolled brass tone ring & heavy duty chrome plated metalwork - notched tension ring, 24 brackets and a Clamshell tailpiece. Unusually for a banjo at this price point, the rim is fitted with twin co-ordinator rods which, when combined with the very solid rim, makes for an extremely stable banjo. The standard of plating is good. Fitted with a top sprayed Remo head. The truss rodded mahogany neck is quite slim with a cream bound rosewood fingerboard and diamond position markers. The scale length is 26 ½” with 22 frets. Modern banjo fretting, nicely done and hand-dressed to give an excellent playing surface. The action is set-up low with a standard 5/8" bridge but is adjustable as required. Fitted with GT MasterPlanet top-quality planetary banjo tuners and a matching geared 5th string peg. The resonator is a standard convex type. The neck is finished in clear dark gloss lacquer which matches the body & resonator very well - the finish is good.
Supplied with a free fitted strap, a spare set of strings, a capo and a pair of fitted capo spikes in addition to our standard top-grade set-up job with brand new strings and a good quality bridge.
Overall, this banjo is very well built and great value for money.
It has a bright tone suitable for any open chord tuning.
An economical banjo which would suit a beginner or improver very well and which can be fairly easily upgraded to the next level by the addition of a heavy cast flat-top tone ring at some later stage.
A great first buy or as a replacement for that "dodgy" first banjo ....
