Gold Tone OB250 "Lefty" resonator model - £960.00

Gold Tone OB250

a high-grade modern banjo from Florida. It has an 11” x ¾” thick dark-stained 3-ply maple rim with a very heavy cast bell brass Flathead tone ring & heavy-duty nickel- plated metalwork - 24 brackets and a Straightline tailpiece. The plating is very good. Fitted with a Remo head. The truss rodded maple neck is quite slim with a boxwood bound ebony fingerboard and fancy “hearts & flowers” inlaid position markers. The scale length is 26 ¼” with 22 frets. Modern banjo fretting, very nicely done, hand-dressed to provide a an excellent playing surface. The action is set-up low but is adjustable as required. Fitted with a new type of top quality planetary banjo tuners and a matching geared 5th string peg. The neck is finished in dark gloss lacquer which matches the body & resonator very well - the finish is very good. The resonator is the standard decorated convex type and the flange is the heavy one-piece cast item considered the standard for “bluegrass“ banjos. Resonator design may vary from that illustrated. Overall, this banjo is very well built and very good value for money. It has a very bright, very loud tone suitable for any open chord tuning. A good bluegrass banjo which would suit a player of any standard. This banjo is capable of being upgraded at a later stage by the addition of a bronze tone ring.
