Grafton Minstrel fretless open-back 5-string - £295.00

Grafton Minstrel fretless open-back 5-string

at last - a new model fretless open back “Minstrel” style banjo built in the UK from imported parts - suitable for a player of any standard. Great performance from such a modestly priced instrument. It has an 11” x ½” thick maple rim with a rolled brass tone ring, nice quality metalwork - 24 tensioners and a No-Knot tailpiece. The plating is good. Fitted with a Renaissance head. The truss rodded maple neck is quite slim and wide with a black bound rosewood fingerboard and side dot position markers. The scale length is approx 26” (similar to the fretted version). The fingerboard is hand-dressed & polished by us to provide an excellent playing surface. The action is set-up low but is adjustable as required. Fitted with good quality vintage style planetary banjo tuners and a geared 5th string peg. The neck is finished in dark brown satin lacquer which matches the body very well - the finish is very good. Built with twin co-ordinator rods for stability - a very rigid style of construction indeed. Overall, this banjo is well built and very good value for money. It has a pleasant, mellow tone suitable for any open chord tuning. A good old-time or folk banjo which would ideally suit a beginner or a player trading up from the basic models - heaps of extra performance for small money.
