a nice entry-level banjo from Gold Tone. It has an 11” x ½” thick stained mahogany rim with a small brass tone ring & sturdy chrome-plated metalwork - 18 brackets and a Straightline tailpiece. The plating is very good. Fitted with a frosted top Remo head. The truss rodded maple neck is slim with a black bound rosewood fingerboard and dot position markers. The scale length is 26 ¼” with 22 frets. Modern banjo fretting, very nicely done. The action is set-up low but is adjustable as required. Fitted with good quality planetary banjo tuners and a geared 5th string peg. Simple “bolt-on” resonator which is quickly & easily removed at need. The neck is finished in satin lacquer which matches the body & resonator very well - the finish is good. Overall, this banjo is very well built and good value for money. It has a pleasant crisp tone suitable for any open chord tuning. A much better entry-level instrument than most banjos in this price range.
