A higher-grade entry-level/intermediate model built in the UK from Saga components - this improved model is built in the UK to a higher specification than the standard Chinese-built version. It is based on an arch-top version of the usual cast aluminium alloy rim; the archtop version was very popular in the 60's - 70's - maybe it's due for a bit of a comeback? Anyway, the banjo spec:- It has a heavy 11” cast aluminium alloy rim with an integral arch-top tone ring & heavy nickel-plated metalwork - 24 brackets, a heavy armrest and a Presto tailpiece. The plating is excellent. Fitted with a new Remo top-sprayed head. The truss rodded mahogany neck is quite slim with a cream plastic bound rosewood fingerboard and pearl dot position markers. Two-point neck fixing with twin co-ordinator rods for extra stability. The scale length is 26 ½” with 22 frets. Modern banjo fretting, very nicely done. The action is set-up low but is adjustable as required. Now fitted with black buttoned planetary banjo tuners and a geared 5th string peg. Standard cream plastic bound convex “Gibson” style resonator with 2-piece flange and 4-point fixings. The neck is finished in clear gloss lacquer - the finish is good.
FREE with this banjo; Banjo Rookie tutorial dvd, chromatic tuner, 2 sets of top-quality spare strings, a capo (for the 4 long strings) & a pair of fitted capo spikes (for the 5th string) and a fitted banjo strap.
This banjo produces a very good tone from its well-designed rim and is suitable for any open chord tuning. A good banjo for a beginner or improver in bluegrass style.
