a modern banjo from Gold Tone, designed for Irish Traditional playing though it would be equally at home in "jazz" tuning.
It has a 5/8" maple rim, 24 brackets, heavy duty hardware and a "White Lady" style tone ring. Fitted with a Renaissance head. The stained maple neck is quite slim with an ebony fingerboard and "Clouds" position markers. The scale length is very short - 19 7/8" - which makes it very easy to play. It is fitted with good quality vintage-style planetary tuners and a heavy cast taiplpiece for great tuning stability. The fretting is nicely done in modern style banjo fretwire and is hand-dressed for an excellent playing surface. The resonator is easily detachable so that open-back playing is perfectly feasible, where appropriate. The finish is very good.
Overall, this is a very comfortable little banjo with a nice sound and would suit any level of player - at a price that belies its quality ......
