A higher grade entry-level/intermediate standard-scale tenor banjo from Saga. It has a heavy 11” cast aluminium alloy rim with integral arch-top tone ring & heavy nickel-plated metalwork - 24 brackets, a heavy armrest and a Waverley tailpiece. The plating is excellent. The new and more attractive truss rodded mahogany neck is quite slim with a rosewood fingerboard and pearl dot position markers. Two-point neck fixing with twin co-ordinator rods for extra stability. The scale length is 23” with 19 frets. Modern banjo fretting, very nicely done & hand-dressed for an excellent playing surface. The action is set-up low but is adjustable as required. Fitted with good quality planetary tuners. Standard cream plastic bound convex “Gibson” style resonator with 2-piece flange and 4-point fixings. The neck is finished in clear gloss lacquer which matches the resonator nicely - the finish is good. Owing to the much heavier metalwork and better grade body (with an integral arch-top tone ring), it has a much better tone than the basic aluminium-bodied model. Default set-up is for GDAE "Irish" tuning but alternative set-ups for CGDA "Jazz" or DGBE "Chicago" tunings are available on request.
Free with this banjo; fitted gigbag, tutorial book, chromatic tuner, fitted strap, 2 spare sets of strings and 6 plectrums.
A good banjo for a beginner in various tenor styles.
