(TP03A)

(TP03A) "Scallop-shell" nickel-plated zither banjo tailpiece - 12.00

A better quality one-piece tailpiece as found on loads of zither banjos.

This one has 8 string pins so it's ideal for a zither mandolin banjo - but it can be used for 4- or 5-string types too.

It is attached to the back of the banjo rim by means of 3 small screws (supplied).

It is only designed to fit zither style banjos (where the hardware fits inside a smooth wooden outer rim) - it is possible to modify it to fit other types but it's not easy.

This is a nice solid tailpiece ideal for replacing similar tailpieces on various types of zither banjo.

The part that goes down the outside of the banjo and is attached with 3 small screws is about 33mm deep X 50mm wide. The part that goes out over the head is about 50mm wide x 45mm long.

(TP13)

(TP13) "Waverley" style chrome-plated banjo tailpiece - 16.00

A nice two-piece tailpiece based on a 1920's design.

The saddle attaches to the banjo by means of a single nut & bolt through the bottom; the cover plate is attached to the saddle with 2 small screws. There are 5 string studs in the back of the cover (unlike the 1920's original, there is no string cover plate on this version). There is a screw provided in the back of the tailpiece cover to alter the angle between the saddle and the cover plate. This is a nice tailpiece ideal for replacing similar tailpieces on period banjos or for use on new build banjos - quite good for 4-string banjos owing to the string spacing.

For some unexplained reason, this banjo comes with 5 string holes drilled through the back-plate under the string pins. These should be ignored as they bring the strings out in a most unhelpful place.

Dimensions: Length (front to back): 56mm, Width (at widest point) 35mm: Depth (from top of tension ring) 23mm

Supplied with a 30mm x M4 fixing nut + bolt

(TP22)

(TP22) "Old Kerschner" style nickel-plated banjo tailpiece - 30.00

A nice (if not wholly accurate) reproduction of the 1910's design.

A heavy cast tailpiece with a saddle that attaches to the banjo with a single nut & bolt through the angle at the bottom. The cover plate is attached to the saddle with a hinge. There are 5 string studs on the back of the cover plate. There is a screw in the back of he cover plate to adjust the angle of the cover plate to the saddle and a further 2 screws in the back of the saddle to adjust the angle of the saddle to the tension ring.

A well-known and nice quality item used for many restoration jobs as well as for new build items. The original Kerschner design was a "4-string only" tailpiece and the cover plate was a bit shorter than the current reproduction type. This improves the function of the tailpiece on 5-string banjos but makes it a little less than ideal for high-grade restoration jobs.

Dimensions: Length (front to back): 70mm, Width (at widest point) 38mm: Depth (from top of tension ring) 31mm

Supplied with a 40mm x M4 fixing nut + bolt
