Standard-scale Tenor Banjos (& Standard-scale Tenor Banjo Outfits)

Grafton banjos – each one individually built and set-up in the UK by a craftsman banjo player

You get hand-built performance at close to factory-made prices – the basic Clipper A is an ideal first purchase or as a replacement for that “dodgy first buy”.

Grafton Clipper models are designed to be upgradeable - when you want better sound and/or greater volume, you don’t need to change your banjo; you return it to be rebuilt to a higher spec.

There are a quite a few possibilities - you can get full details by contacting us but here are some examples:- adding a higher grade tone ring to the basic Clipper A (heavy rolled brass, White Lady type, Tubaphone type, Cast flat-top type, Cast arch-top type) or substituting a thicker 3-ply maple rim with or without a bracket band - give us a call to discuss what you need!

All banjos are convertible between open-back, convertible resonator and resonator & flange styles.

You can, of course, order a Clipper built to a higher spec right from the start - just phone or email with your requirements. As the banjos are all built here, there are very few combinations that can't be achieved! Alternatively, scroll down the list to see prices and specs for some of the possibilities.

Left-handed? No problem, no extra charge. You’ll get a set of position dots down the right-hand side of the neck, precision-cut left-handed top nut & bridge and a solid armrest in the proper place
